Sound RecorderMaking your own sounds
If your computer has a sound card and you have a microphone, you can easily make your own sound recordings. Plug your microphone into your sound card. Click Start, Programs, Accessories, Multimedia, Sound Recorder. A program will start that allows you to record sound and save it as a file. Record your sound and then save it as a file.

Once you have made your own sound, you can create a hyperlink to it from within your Word, Excel or PowerPoint document.

Use in learning activities
Record instructions, stimulus materials or just fun sounds.  In your Word or Excel document create a hyperlink to the sound file.  We live in an audiovisual culture.  You can engage the learner by providing a rich medium within which to learn.  Adding sound clips to your spreadsheet or Word documents create a more intereting environment for the learner.
