Potter MSc, BSc, DipEd David was a teacher with the Queensland Education Department from 1987 to 1995. During that time he taught at Aurukun State School and at Bribie Island State High School, being a foundation staff member at the latter. He initiated the computer studies programs at Bribie Island State High School in both the junior and senior schools and held the position of Computer Coordinator. He was also the system administrator for the UNIX systems operating in the Administration and Resource Centres and the Novell system operating in the curriculum area. David was vice president of QSITE and was the editor of the monthly newsletter, both paper and online editions. He has presented papers and run workshops at national and state conferences for teachers. In 1997, 98 and 99, he was the Project Officer for the National Telecommunications Project for ACCE. This DETYA funded project involved the professional associations of the eight key learning areas. ACCEs role and therefore Davids role, was to provide professional training and support to the project officer from each association. David is a Project Officer for the Aussie Schoolhouse. He coordinates the Schools on the Web Project nationally. Schools on the Web is a project that offers Australian Schools an allocation of 10Mb of free web space on the Aussie SchoolHouse server. The project requires a project manager who also provides support to teachers and schools. As a representative of QSITE, David has participated as a trainer in the training workshops for the Connecting Teachers program run by the Queensland Education Department throughout 1996 and 1997. |
